Replace will insert the first letter of a word, but will not delete the pilcrow (or the break).
If nothing else, though, just try cutting and pasting text from Word if you havent put too returns in - your paragraphs are (apparently) 'gone'. If I try to do a find and replace, I can use $ to find the break. Sure, it dates back to using a typewriter, and yes, proper formatting simple on a carriage return would perhaps be better, but - thats the way it is. I can delete the indent at the beginning of the paragraph following the pilcrow. When I turn on the non-printing characters, the pilcrow is open in the curved part. There is a carriage return that I cannot delete. I'm formatting content in a long document that was originally a Word.
